Al Soltis

VMI Area Director

As I look back at my life I see how God has blessed me through both good and trying times. Many years ago during one of those hard times at VMI, I came to know Christ as my personal Lord and Savior on a football field of an arch rival. He further blessed me with a 35-year career in the construction industry, during the last 10 of which I was blessed to serve on the FCA Leadership Board in Roanoke, VA and as a Character Coach with VMI’s football team.

Now as the FCA Campus Director at VMI, I am blessed by the opportunities God places in front of our FCA team every day. Opportunities to help coaches, athletes and those whom they influence to come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior, or to deepen their walk with Him. Opportunities to encourage us all to become bigger, stronger and faster competitors for Christ, striving to win in the most important way.

Haley Shotwell

Collegiate Representative

As I start my journey with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I am blessed to look back and see all that God has done in my life to get me to this point! It is truly a blessing to be able to work with the young people of Virginia Military Institute and I am extremely grateful to God for the opportunity. I started my personal walk with Jesus Christ back in 6th grade, and was very involved with my local church and FCA throughout middle and high school.

Prior to moving into a role with FCA, I worked in college athletics for five years throughout South Carolina before eventually making the move back to Virginia. I felt God’s calling to work for FCA in the Spring of 2022 after attending an FCA breakfast at VMI, and much time in prayer discerning God’s will for me. I am excited to now be working with our coaches and cadet-athletes on a regular basis, sharing the good news of the gospel, as we all strive to be better servants of Christ on and off the field.
